Low level flying lake district

Hi guys

I'm a plane noob so you will have to excuse my ignorance.

We had 2 hercules' fly over lake windemere yesterday, followed by two very, very low flying jets. Special stuff.

Can anyone check on NOTAM to see if there are and more excercises planned for the rest of the week. I don't really understand it tbh.

Quite standard stuff for the lakes. As part of the low flying system area 16/20T there's certainly no NOTAMs in force for any exercises in the Windermere area although you maybe interested in a NOTAM for aerial crop spraying nearby or in Kendal an unmanned tethered balloon....

Routine Low Flying isn't NOTAM'd since it's routine. All Military Crews need to do is book into the Low Flying System (LFS) with times in/out of the relevant LFAs (Low Flying Areas) with the Low Flying Ops Sqn at Wittering (formerly Low Flying Booking Cell at West Drayton).

What are NOTAM'd are Major Exercises with a low flying component and, IIRC, OLF (Operational Low Flying) in the tactical training areas.

What time was it out of interest? A lot of the fast jets from Marham will route through the lake district on their way into either Spadeadam range or 20T(dumfries area).
