Best glue for velcroroof seals

The recent hot weather softened the glue on the Velcro pads for sealing the roof on the body behind the doors. Any recommendations for a super strong glue?

I used Evo-Stik contact adhesive. Be sure to follow the instructions and let it go off a bit first before joining the surfaces together

Same problem! Someone came up with a recommendation quite recently but I am not sure wat it was posted under so I cannot yet find it. Seem to remember the glue was called something like C1 but lets see if anybody can tell us more. If we find out the right stuff I want some as well!

I was sticking down the window seals the other day with evostick and carried on and did the velcro strips as well.
All seems to be holding well so far

I think the glue that was mentioned before was CT1. Someone had used it to attach new window rubbers.

CT1 clear is what we use for all rubber seals. It is manufactured for the building industry but is ideal for our purpose, and it works even in damp conditions. CT1 is available on line.

I knew someone had posted this before! Thanks. Just spoke to a neighbour who is in to sea kayakking, appears they swear by CT1 for sealing compartments on their boats and it does work even when the boat is wet. I will be ordering some! Mine where held on by evostick but I afraid it has suffered in the heat.

As an addendum to this thread; When you re-stuck the Velcro, did you remove the old glue first. If so, how?

I use that stuff at work to remove glue residue from laminate.

I think it's solvent based so might remove the lacquer/paint as well!?

I can get hold of a tin later and check if you like?

I'd mask off below area to be cleaned as a precaution but suspect will be allright if paint is original/old, would be a little more carefull if you had a respray last week !

I wouldn't mind knowing. I am a dab hand at turning even the simplest task into an unmitigated disaster. I have premonition of the outcome!

It is solvent based but if you're not sure then try white spirit or meths first.

It more than likely would'nt remove old paint with brief contact but I'd try the weaker stuff first..............Then test a patch of the strong stuff in the middle of Phillpot's S3 bonnet.
