Hi,

my Tuscan shows in the Dash 100+ Celcius when Engine is hot, but the nearside fan does nothing.(Fan1 works!)
So i check the plugs, Fuses, Relais...everythink ok..hmmm..
Today i try the Diagnose Software..and ops...the Temp. in the Software is 10-20 Celcius deeper than the dash reading...and is to deep to switch the Fan2 on.

That coud be the reason why the nearside Fan doesnt spin..the real Temp is deeper than 98 Celcius.

Why vary Dash/and Software readings?..and what reading is the correct one?..is air in the system the problem?

Please help me...im affraid if i take a ride, the engine could be damaged.

I had this problem a long time ago, assuming your nearside is on the right hand side of the car as you are driving it. There is a different temperature sensor feeding the LCD display than the ECU sensor which controls the fans and engine mapping stuff. There is also a tri-switch which controls the fans. Water can get into the sensor/switch connectors so it was a "service" item to reseal once a year. But I can't remember where all this stuff is, sorry!

Since he checked all the regular stuff, I think this could be related to the offset of both sensors, that he described. AFAIK the offset should be in the range of 5-10 °C, but not 10-20°C. That's of course only relevant if the dash-sensor matters for switching the fans on and off (which i don't know).

I guess the question remains if he could live with too high temperature readings from the dash, because the fans are switched on and off using the other sensor. Or on another thought, is it possible to reajust the dash-sensor to that of the ECU-sensor? (assuming the ecu-sensor gives correct readings)
