17" or 18" wheels on the 996 C4 ?
Discussion
My car currently has the stock Carrera 17" wheels and I'm thinking of changing to 18" Carrera's. I don't have the sports suspension currently.
Has anyone else done this? Would the 18's look silly without lowering the car? I don't want the ride to suffer much.
When (and if) it comes to resale, which setup would be most popular?

There was a similar discussion a while back - I searched and found this about Boxster 18 inch wheels:

Also, check out Robert Farago's article on the 996 C4 on the PH home page - his review basically goes on about the different character afforded by the larger wheels (more sporting, less comfortable)

18" wheels look great on the 996 without lowering the car, and are probably the best compromise for road use. Ultra-competitive track day addicts might benefit from the sports suspension, but apparently the 996 is remarkably good 'on track' in standard trim.
It has to depend on the roads you use most frequently, and the 18" option is perfectly OK on all but the very worst. Positively serene on any half-decent surface.

I have 18" Sport Design wheels on my Boxster S. Just beautiful. The car is fine on nearly all the roads I drive it on and has that wonderful Porsche "goes exactly where you point it no matter how much of an idiot I'm being". I'd recommend them (although I'm biased) although you may find that ride quality on poor surfaces is slightly poorer.
