C2W or 2nd bike ?

I want to get my first proper road bike. Had a few road bikes before but have always been a compromise too small or too knackered to ride properly.

What's best - buy a new bike on my work scheme or buy a local pick up 2nd hand from eBay ?

I am 6'1 and 100kg. Just want something to ride as a daily. Not really interested in racing or events.
