Now is the tb the 348 to buy or the one to avoid?
I currently run a TVR and am thinking about a change and theirs nothing much that appeals other than a dancing donkey...
the only thing that falls into my bracket though is a rather tastey lhd 348tb that i've spotted.
Now im not the kind of chap to buy a trophey car and keep it in the garage, so could one of these things cope with 10k a year and how much servicing would that need ?

mechanically it's a 328qv. personally I like the looks but a lot of purists dont, hence its low residuals. Remember reading the 355 was light years better in driveability but that doesnt necesarilly make the 38 bad. Huge servicing costs though...clutch and cambelt every 25k miles (?) is engine out, £5k+ job
The 328 isn't mechanically a 348 ? Its a 3.2 as opposed to a 3.4.
Also a cambelt service can be upto every 3 years on a later model and shouldn't be £5k, more like 2-3.
There wasn't a 348 with a 355 engine (as far as I know), however, the last of the 348's, the GTB and GTS did have most of the suspension upgrades and brakes from the 355.

re: 348 / 328: 348's have longtitudinal engines with the belts against the bulkhead, so it has to come out for a belt change (every 2 years for early ones, 3 years for later ones I think). It's the same layout as the 355 and puts the engine as low as possible. 328's have transverse engines which don't have to come out for this kind of work, so servicing is much cheaper. The 328 engine is actually above the gearbox, so it sits quite high in the car.
the tb is better than most ts'. ts roofs tend to leak, and therefore do not make great daily drivers in the uk....the only problem is the sticky second gear....
up to early '92 models had their problems, mostly suspension and other non engine related. later '92 and younger, had all issues sorted and are great cars. consider them to be 3/4 of a 355, and priced accordingly.
