Legal advice has been taken and I have therefore deleted my initial message from this topic.

I think you need more advice than casual replies on a forum.

Why did you say you were leaving to join a competitor?

I would have just said "I would like to leave".

It is indeed a good idea to take insured specialist advice on post termination restrictive covenants. The internet wisdom on this subject is almost invariably wrong, and getting on the wrong end of an injunction can cost an employee a shedload of cash and hassle.

Mr Breadvan. I may need advice on a similar issue... Could I be so bold as to ask for your first opinion? Would rather send details by PM if that's OK.

I strongly recommend anyone else in my position seeking independent legal advice.

A complete life saver for me, the whole situation has been resolved by a couple of letters and my requested early release date has been granted.
