Well picked up my new baby last week fresh from the factory , but unfortunately with some glue stuck to one of the leather seats .
I’ve tried using Liquid Leather cleaner and even picking it off with my nail, but it doesn’t seem to want to come off, at least not without removing the leather with it .
Has anyone successfully removed glue like this and if so how?

Many thanks

You christened your new car seats with 'glue' did you.

...glue like this...

Would that be the kind of glue that was used to create the new baby?

Ive just had the whole of the interior recovered, so I've had to deal with lots of this.

I assume that it is contact glue, if so I wouls avoid using any form of solvent as they tend to remove the tanning. The best way to remove is gently rubbing your finger over the area. It does help if you have dry glue on your finger already.

Good luck

best stuff by miles is hammerite brush cleaner. much quicker than meths or white spirit so you dont have to rub, so less damage. been round the inside of mine with it!

Highly dangerous. Hammerite solvent is based on Xylene, well nasty to breathe and jolly flammable. Will also take colour out of certain things that are dyed.

Your brave trying that.

You could try some tape head cleaner, or to mad scientists, Iso Propyl Alcohol. This should soften the glue so it can be picked off easy. Try it some where discreet to ensure it dont knacker your seats.

This is what I'm afraid of, as it's pale non TVR leather and I think a solvent would remove the colour.

Is it hard glue or soft

It seems to be a hard glue. I might just leave it for the dealer to have a look at when it goes back for it's 1000 mile service.

That would be the safest option, but go back now as they will probably blame you.

I had some hard type glue melt from the change up light pillar and then re-solidify on top of the speedo.

Took it back to the dealer and they removed it all without a trace but it wasn't something they'd seen before.

Looks like the factory are using a new type of glue ... hopefully not for too much longer
