Who has a difficult job?

Was interested by the "what does your job entail?" thread.

Who goes to work and honestly thinks they are doing something that not many people could do? I'd be especially intrigued to hear from any high flying six figure execs to understand why they're on big bucks and I'm not!!

Whilst I'm not on six figures, I am nevertheless on holiday until September :-)

Most people could do my job, but I went out and set the company up and took the risks entailed in that.
Is it difficult? No.
Are most jobs difficult to the professional who does them?

Depends how you define difficult?

My job can be difficult but not everyday. However if you took a random 100 people on the street and asked them if they could do my job, a good percentage would say that they couldn't.

Teaching is a horrible job, with what little fun there is left being leached out every year. It doesn't help the image to bang on about holidays though, it confirms a negative stereotype.

It confirms nothing of the sort, everyone's fully aware of the time we have off and I'm not really one for insulting people's intelligence or patronising them by trying to pretend its not good.

I'd say there are three groups, physical jobs like construction when you work long hours doing lots of heavy work in all conditions, but it's something you get used to.
Technical jobs are hard (even impossible) to those that don't understand them, but those that do them will find them average and run of the mill.
The final bit would be the moral decisions, people who have to decide things from who gets what medical treatment to who gets their benefits stopped.
Along with that would be some Police and Military roles, but training should set out the framework before so you follow set plans rather than have to make the call yourself.

My job isn't difficult. I'm pretty sure a high proportion of the folk on here could do it and wouldn't class it as difficult - I'm an Regulatory Risk and Assurance Analyst.

OP, I reckon I could do your job, but I would find it difficult

This is it. Most tasks seem difficult if you've not done them before, the learning curve soon takes effect though and it becomes second nature and 'seems' easy.

Placed in a senior management role most people who think senior managers do sod all for loads of money would soon crack up. No lunch hour, no 9-5, no weekends, not much home life, travel all the time ( not as fun as you might think ), and you have to do that for a couple of decades whilst working up to that senior role.

It's a bit like saying climbing Mt Everest looks easy, if I started 15ft from the top.

I work in a pretty challenging school, but I say the same to anyone. It's fine once you get it in your head that, for pretty much any behaviour, its not their fault.

You'd likely be fked if I dropped you off (gently) 15ft from the top of Everest and flew off in my hoverjet. The change in air pressure and the sudden lack of oxygen might have you doing an Arnie/Total Recall/Mars impersonation.
