Hi guys,

I've been browsing Pistonheads for a while, and there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable folk on here.

I've got a Saracen Instinct which I've had for a few years, I used to use it quite a lot but then got a puncture and never got around to fixing it. I want to start riding again but I've lost the quick release rear axle.

I've seen some replacement parts on Ebay, but do I need a specific size, or type? Google isn't really throwing any answers up.

Thanks.

Jimbo.

I would assume that it needs a standard mountain bike QR skewer. Easy to source and cheap enough. Although be sensible and opt for a Shimano internal cam QR smile

Ooh! The red one would match the little shiny red bits on my Centaur Black & Red groupset! biggrin Would they fit a road bike?

Also, to the OP, how on earth did you manage to lose a QR axle of all things?!?!

THESE are the road ones.

they are different lengths to the MTB ones (off the top of my head I don't remember which are wider/narrower than the other though)

Much cheaper on Planet X for same skewer. Pays to shop around

Good call! For some reason I never think of Planet-X for parts. Looking there, they have the 10 speed chain I'm after for a few quid cheaper than anywhere else too. thumbup
