I'm having problems Inflating my mtb tyres with my joeblow turbo.
I can't get it to connect.
It locks on but isn't opening the valve to let the air in so just builds pressure in the pipe.
It works perfectly on my roadie with Presta valves.
Any ideas?

Have you tried a 'pre-connection' tap on the valve to let a little air out? Could be a stiff valve core, or just that there's a fair bit of pressure in there already?

Or have a look in the end of the inflator head to see that there is a part that will press down on the valve core. I can't remember right now whethter it's the Presta or Schrader inflator head that has this 'bit', but I suspect it's the Schrader as I think it has a stronger valve spring. (You manually shut off the Presta valve when you've finished inlating by screwing it up tight, and it works at higher pressures usually so you don't need such a strong spring).

Thanks,
Ive tried it on 4 different tyres to the same effect.
It does have the spring loaded piece inside to push the valve in, so im stuck.

Does the JoeBlow have the 'double header' inflater that's supposed to automatically swap between the Schrader/Presta outlets according to which one is connected? If so, the 'witchcraft' inside may be stuck on Presta. Contact the manufacturer/importer, who may be able to replace just the inflater head (if it's not absolutely ancient, they should do this under 'Sale of Goods Act' but with a reputable brand you shouldn't even need that stick to beat them). If that doesn't work, or as a short term fix, try http://www.wiggle.co.uk/silca-schrader-to-presta-v...

You can then continue to use your JoeBlow through the working Presta outlet.

I get what you are saying, but my pump has the Smarthead. It is supposed to automatically change between the 2 valve types.

In that case, I'm out of ideas. Sorry.
