Hi everyone, I have seen numerous posts about the bulkhead bearing/bush on the S series, however my S is an early 1988 model and the housing has only four bolts, where as some of the posts I have seen have 5 bolts which seem to occur on the later S series. Just want some clarification what to replace on mine and where to buy because yes you've guessed it the steering has a lot of play and has been picked up as a advisory on the MOT.
Apologies if the answer is on here somewhere but thought it was easier just asking the question again.
Cheers

"the steering has a lot of play and has been picked up as a advisory"...

Not sure this is your bulkhead bush... I would have thought universal joints (top or bottom) or the rack itself.. my bulkhead bearing was noisy (squeaky?) and made the steering very stiff towards the end of its life..

Play was upper u joint then 12 months later the rack.

Just my experience..

Cheers

Hi

When I move the steering wheel side to side up and down etc while sticking my head in the footwell I can see the bush moving so I assume this is what the MOT garage have identied. However good point raised about u/j etc
