...I've been told by the dealer that my 3 yr old 996 C4 has a very slight oil leak in the front diff that will probably need a repair next service (in about 10 mths). Quoted about 2hrs labour plus parts.

Is this serious, or something that should be covered under warranty? Should I get the thing fixed ASAP or wait until the next service?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

"whats the front differential?"....your car is 4wd, it has a differential at the front as well as the rear. It's a mechanical device that enables the inner wheel to rotate slower than the outside wheel when turning a corner. It looks like a metal cylindrical lump, with a few gears inside. I'm no mechanic but I would personally get it sorted out asap.

Will be no problem as long as it doesn't run dry on oil - but do you really want to get under the front of the car and check/fill it each month? Nah, didn't think so, get it fixed - I'd like to think that the garage should do that under warranty but after the crap I've had with Porsche GB recently they'll probably tell you to go jump.
