Very old bike - worth upgrading?

This good weather has got me wanting to get riding again. I have a Saracen Andes from c1995 at my parents house. It was a decent runner when I had it as I upgraded bits on it. It is still fully rigid though. I think it weighs 27lbs

Would I be able to get something of equal quality/weight for £350?

Keep it. I'm still riding around on a Diamond Back of the same vintage, my road bike is an '80s Vitus, and my current cyclocross bike is the new one of the bunch as that's only 15 years old.

Get it serviced (or do it yourself) and ride.

Failing that - save another £100 and there are some decent bikes...

That's nice and light compared to £350ish modern hardtail with barely worth it forks.

I went through a similar question about a year ago. I have a 1994 Marin Palisades Trail. I took the view that the bike, once serviced, was perfectly fine and better than any cheap bike that I could buy. I therefore decide simply to ride what I had rather than buy something else I also made a promise to myself that if I stuck by it and kept on biking then I would shell out for a more modern fancy bike in the future. I pick that new bike up this Saturday but will be keeping the Marin as I still enjoy riding it and it has now become "retro" rather than just being "old". I would say stick with what you have and see how you get on.

That's uncanny. I've got a 92 Palisades! I went to a bike shop to enquire about upgrading it, front forks etc, and the owner said "Noooo! It's a vintage classic, leave it as it is". So I did.

My next door neighbour has a 3k Cube that I'm quite jealous off, but can't justify the cost.
