M plate W124 230E and other Manchester sightings.

I've seen this several times over the last 12 months pottering around central Manchester and had assumed I'd merely miss read the badge. Yesterday I got a good look, preface lift bonnet 230E solid black(unusual?)red cloth RHD interestingly it has fittings on the top corner of the wings for what would appear to be a flag attachment. It was in very good condition highly polished and almost unmarked inside. I wonder if it's been imported (Japan may be)by an embassy. It would certain be interesting on the owners club circuit. W124's seem to be very common in Manchester at present in 2 days I've seen a nice cream TE, a black cabriolet and a maroon coupe. Not to mention the carpark on Oxford road(The Academy)which regularly has a W116 and a W123 coupe parked up, numerous 190's and a couple of W123 saloons.
