Ok so I'm a normal straight motoring kinda guy.. Sports and Prestige motors, and everyday runabouts... everything has its place..

But I have to admit, I am curious about the "Modded" Saxo, nova, rover scene that has developed over the last 10-15 or so years.. and the various social gatherings that go with it. Only the other day I thought to myself, hmm if I lowered the Puma a bit, gat a K&N induction kit and some 17" alloys, it would look "nicer" and go better... oo slippery slope !!

The other strange fascination is how these pasty faced skinny lads with their bolt-on-buggies manage to attract loads of nubile, uninhibited young ladies, whenever they all decide to get together in a service station for a burnout session (which just seems to be base on how quickly you can sh@g a pair of tyres)..

So, how about an undercover "stealth" mission to infiltrate the "cruise" scene and get the lowdown for a PH exclusive expose.. obviously some of us would have to turn up in a Modded motor, or hide the tiv's, then see what the crack is...

Early thoughts are:

Carzee, Mel - Put-down comments, sarcasm and general abuse, thinly veiled as "interviews" with car owners
Flasher - Woman "tester"
MondeoMan - Anything going "tester"
M@H - Photographer
Ted - Pie and Beer tester
ZZR600 - phone numbers for later dates collection officer
Chassis - Motor mod Expert
GregE240 & SBD - Everyones concience for the night

Anyone else care to join in..
Cheers,
Matt..

I'm sure I could persuade some of my mates to do a car swap for an evening. Cerbie for a Saxo, Fester for Ferrari, that kind of thing.

This is indeed the problem - us old buggers will stick out like a sore thumb.. and they'll probably decide that we're plain clothed plod or something..

I went along to Maidstone with a few friends from the Mini club, funny to see some of these people taking themselves so seriously, there were some heavily modified cars though, the flames coming from some turbo motors looked amusing.

Maybe a cruise invasion should be arranged, show them what real cars sound like.

If only these people would meet up on a Sunday afternoon, instead of a Saturday night, and meet in a nice country park, instead of Tesco's carpark, and just look at each others cars and chat, instead of doing crappy burn-outs,

I have been to several of these 'cruises' and indeed there is a lot of 'totty' but and a BIG BUT it is the sort of totty that you would associate with the sorts of motors that appear. Looks racy on the outside but empty of anything powerful on the inside. More comfortable with a BIG MAC than a evening in a nice restaurant. No more than eye candy from about 50yards.
