Morning PH

I've just relocated to WGC from the Highlands of Scotland.

Very stressful.

To compensate for years of driving TDCI rubbish - I bought myself a lovely Honda Accord Type-R as a gift and also to celebrate not having to drive c.80k a year anymore.

Problem is, I don't know where I can go for a nice evening hoon around here. Everything is either motorway, or speedbumped.

Can any of you suggest some good roads/areas that lend themselves to a lovely evening hoon?

Please accept this picture of my Accord as thanks.

The road between Codicote and Hitchin can be a good laugh.

As above the B656 to Hitchin is a great road. And when you get to Hitchin head up the B655 towards Barton, also good fun.

Look at the roads between Hatfield / Essendon and Broxbourne / Newgate Street / Cuffley etc. We used to call them the rally roads and they can be pretty fun when you get to know them smile

B158 seems to be the road number but you get to the roads off the A1000 or A414. Road names to look for are White Stubbs Lane, Tyler's Causeway ... Find those on Google Maps and you're laughing

B656 from Codicote to Hitchin is great. Very often on there during my lunch break smile

A507 Baldock to Buntingford is great fun, too.

Will have to keep an eye out for your car smile

I quite often link the Buntingford route to the A10 and then the 'rally' roads I mentioned before for a good round trip ... May be worth giving it a shot at some point.

Thanks, I'll check it out next time biggrin I managed to get out on both today during my break in the Puma. Still enjoy them each time I go out, especially the B656.

A friend of a friend of a friend may or may not have allegedly told me that the A10 between Ware and Standon is good for a bit of a blast. For the slightly twistier stuff, part of my commute used to be down the B653, which will take you to Wheathampstead. On the way back, turn off into Lemsford, wince as your sump gets torn off by the speed bumps and get yourself booked into to the pub on the corner (The Long arm and Short arm), proper sunday carvery, none of this microwave junk the Toby offers.

More fun can be found down Coopers green lane (off the same roundabout that gets you on the 653) once you know it, it is however quite a popular place for in-experianced, overconfident drivers to shove their pride 'n joy into a field, so paying attention is a must! biggrin

Welwyn at night is the favoured hunting ground of the unmarked police car (presumably because the criminals are contained in The Parkway hehe) so watch yourself after the sun goes down!
