Quick Question (I hope!)

Changing the Coil on the S3 but the old coil has no markings to suggest which wire is + and - The new coil does but I don't want to mix them up as not sure what will happen!

It has 2 green wires connected into one spade connector and a yellow (with white line) the other connected as a bullet connector which I need to change to the spade type (which even I can do :-) )

I think the yellow/white is +ve and green -ve (to distributor)


do you have a meter or test lamp. +ve wire should be live with ignition on I'd have thought?

Thanks for the quick reply, I could see from the 'bible' that green went to the dist with white/yellow to Tacho! but wasn't sure which was + or - I haven't got a volt meter yet, ordered one but not arrived and I am trying to get her fixed today so I can go the Poole Quay TVR meeting tonight in a TVR

Not yet Liam, but I found some so all good. Anyway, new coil fitted and now I think the battery has died because it won't even turn over, just a click. I am not surprised though as it hasn't run for over 6 weeks and I have been turning it on the battery lots to try and diagnose etc so on charge now and we shall see in a couple of hours!

Hi u mate on my s3c the white is + and the 2 green wires are - neg hope to see u at Poole quay later there are two S coming down from Bristol and the weather looks good also cheers Nige .

I will be there with or without the S clearing up down here now, stopped raining so should be OK later.

I know but it is difficult when I am not home until 8pm each night and then as soon as you mention its a TVR no mobile mechanics are interested either, luckily the second RAC bloke that came out was much better than the first and correctly diagnosed the issue

Liam thanks for the offer of coming down with the trailer to take her back to your place, although that sounds like a cunning plan to me, so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it Joy
