Help!

I have family visiting in August and they have asked me to recommend a restaurant in Bournemouth.
As I don't really eat out much there does anyone on PH have any suggestions.
There will be a couple of teenagers through to an 84 year old Grandpa.
I don't really want a chain and would like something half decent but not Michelin Star priced.

Thanks in advance

Any idea what sort of thing they like?

Indian: Eye of the Tiger

Chinese: Ocean Palace

Italian: Barolos (good fun Italian food)

Steak: Steak Out, or Miller and Carter

Excellent evening Brit / French dining or fine Sunday lunches: Lord Bute (had my wedding reception there and go for B'days etc)

Sea Food: Used to be loads of good restaurants but now i cannot give a good reveiw of any in the area.

Oriental: Koh Thai (not really Thai in my opinion but decent oriental all the same). I prefer Sala Thai for authentic food seeing as the excellent Tuk Tuk Thai has now closed down.

Good pub grub and real ales: Olive Branch in Wimborne or Fox and Hounds at Canford

..............................

On another note, my missus wants to go out on Saturday for some fancy nosh. Anyone got a good recommendation for some fine dining (anywhere within 50 miles of Bournemouth) where dressing up is worth the effort?

That's true. The Mill at Gordleton is good, might be just as busy though!

Thanks for the replies.

We ideally need central Bournemouth because of transport issues.

The Crab opposite the BIC?

West Beach?

Short taxi ride

The Edge?

Vesuvio?

Anyone been to these places?

The Edge is good, yeah. Had a couple of nice meals in there. The Jetty is good if you can get to Christchurch.

I've eaten at the crab in Bmth.....it was ok, but pricey. Nothing wrong with the food, just was expecting a little better.

Take an appetite with you if you go for the ribs as a main course!

Vesuvio is good for kids as well as being reasonably priced. Its on the beach with a car park above.

Loch Fine in Canford Cliffs a little more upmarket with great seafood, early booking for kids.

Indi's in Westbourne really good mix of Indian/European foods, not your 3 pints and curry place.

Vesuvio is quite a trek from Central Bournemouth.

I would recommend La Strada or Enzees on Westover road. Both Italians, great food and service.

We're going to check out Thai Corner in Hythe tonight. Got a number 1 rating on trip advisor so I think it might be worth a punt.

^^^^^^ was bloody excellent. Best Thai we've had outside of Thailand.
