Both of the TVR badges on my car, which I assume are the originals, look a little bit tatty.

I was thinking of taking them off to give them a really good clean, and spray them with some chrome or silver spray.

Are they simply stuck on, or is there something a bit more secure holding them on to the bodywork?

What colour would they have been on the original car?

Are new badges readily available without costing a fortune?

If anyone has any good ideas on this very small project, please do share?

Just done mine they have bolts on rear. Took them off and polished them with a buffing wheel and then sprayed with clear laquer, gave a good result.

New are available at a price, (think those are a bit much try looking up the gold coloured ones!) or looks like this guy has batches of Union Flag badges made every so often?

They re secured by two 8mm (spanner size) nuts and possibly, if they've been off for a respray and studs sheared off, glue/sticky pads

Hi there , if you look at the s series photo thread you can see the enamel union jack badge fitted to the boot of my car , [ I have also fitted one on the bonnet but haven't got a photo yet] , they really are a top quality item and as mike said are fitted by threads through the original holes and come complete with nuts and foam gaskets.
I have no link to the chap selling them , just a very satisfied customer.
Hope that helps , cheers Paul.

Without removing the bonnet from the car, which is the best direction to get at the nuts on the bonnet badge.?
The under apron only gives tiny space to get arm through so cannot reach from there, grills over air intakes appear to be bonded on so no access there, alternatve appears to be climb onto front wheel and reach down behind radiator, or am I missing something ??

I've just got a Union Jack one from Tim at TVR Badges <tvrbadges@hotmail.co.uk>. Really good quality. Fixed mine to the rear and its looks the dog's parts. Not sure about how to get to the front one - do you think the blokes that built our cars were double jointed or have Elastic Man superpowers?

So, I managed to remove bonnet badge last night. With the bonnet resting on my back as I lay across the offside wheel and engine bay, left hand braced on the chassis rail, one leg squeezed between wheel and arch other leg out flayling in mid-air, right arm over the radiator, face squished into the swirl pot, a tiny rachet at finger tip stretch, half a turn at a time, with each movement, the top edge of the radiator grazes my inner arm. Then try to guess when the last thread is about to release, to avoid dropping both nut and ratchet into the distant abyss, that is actually the very point of the nose.
I bet you are ahead of me here, .... ... . I dropped both and had to get a long stick and some sticky tape to poke about to retrieve them.
But hey the badge is now off. will refurb and attach with double side tape, no-way of putting nuts back on, one slip and some other nuts may become detatched !! eek

I just jacked the front of the car up, bonnet opens right up, you can get to the nuts easy.

No pain. No gain. You know it'll be worth it. It's a shame you didn't do yourself an injury as I would have loved to hear how you explained it away at A&E. You were doing what sir? smile

I bought some wing nuts to reattach both front and rear, and used some low tack sticky pads to hold in place first.
