I have a 2001 y reg gt2, I have been told it was the second registered uk car, it is a early car with no glovebox? Do any of the gt2 experts have a buildlist? Or is there anyway of telling this? Does any body no how many y reg cars there are??

Interesting. Didn't know that there were 996 GT2s built w/o a glovebox.

I had a 2001 Gt2 with no glove box. I understand it was one of the first 10 because it had steel brakes as well. I assume yours has steels?

One of the first 10 then. Might be my old car. Is it silver with bucket seats?

JDH1 what's your views on the 996GT2 good and bad? Why did you part with yours? Just curious.

I bought and sold my GT2 twice. The 'good' is the power and insane acceleration combined with fantastic Porsche build quality and relatively low running costs for what you get. The 'Bad' was the lack of any interesting noise and the ride - and it was the latter which caused me to sell. It was so hard that it was skipping on uneven roads (of which there are loads where I live) and it just didn't inspire confidence, particularly when it was s bit damp.

It was supposed to be 'fast road'. It may have been fast German road, but not fast UK road.

Not on y2 gtr anymore , but if you google 2001 gt2 silverstone, it comes up on a recent reg previously for sale at auction

Yes that certainly looks like it and the mileage is probably about right. I owned it twice - first time when it had done about 8,000 miles and second time when it had done about 15,000. Haven't seen it for sale so not sure by what route it ended up at auction.

I understand that there were either 7 or 10 early cars (on a Y plate) delivered to customers who did not want to wait for the ceramic brakes which were delayed for some reason. These cars have no glove box and steel brakes. Customers were given a reduced price accordingly (steel brakes cheaper than ceramic).
