Any recommendations for bike insurance? I'm looking at £1000 tops cover for bike + kit, 3rd party, regular commuting and locked in a bike shed at work. Thanks! smile

I added it to my household contents policy. They confirmed over the phone it was covered anywhere it was locked. I wanted to check as I was concerned about leaving a £1000 road bike in London, although it's locked in a 'secure' car park at work.

I used to commute through London (Hammersmith - Hackney) and still do occasionally. I took out separate 3rd party cover for less than £2 a month in case I hit one of the suicidal pedestrians that step out without looking in the City.

Same here. Lives in the house, so it's contents like camera kit or jewellery (not that I have much of either).

I have this:

http://www.triathloninsurance.co.uk/

Covers up to 3 bikes, kit, PL and the bike is covered when in transition at triathlons. Plus the PL covers you for competitions.

You pay monthly and can turn the competition cover on and off if you are not competing for a period of time.

Bloody hell bike insurance is expensive!

I have always had my bikes on the house insurance, and have the public liability via my British Cycling membership but thought that I would get a couple of quotes 'as a matter of interest'. To cover my bikes (at a conservative replacement value), is over £100 a year more than my Mini Cooper S insurance!
