There are a number of good pads out there I like EBC but there are others. Dont think you will get better by going for a race pad. Race pads will take to long to get working on the road. A good fast road pad should work very well. Most of the time you will notice more of a diffrance when changing pads than discs, as it is the pad that should give you the extra stopping power. A good disk is less prone to fade becuse of heat so you will only notice a diffrance when realy gong for it. Cheep disc will not like heat and will worp and wear quick. Hope this helps
All my pad experience is with the MX5 but there should be some cross-over. They are similar weight cars though the centre of gravity on the MX is much lower so it has less tendency to roll.
I've had EBC drilled & grooved discs on my before and hated them. They feel no better than cheap plain discs, are noisy and very expensive.
I also don't like EBC pads other than Yellows which do work ok as road pads as well as working on track. Cold they feel like any road pad but they improve when heated. Axxis ULT if you can get them for a Mini are superb but do dust a lot. Currently using Stoptech on my MX5 which seem to be a bit better than Yellows but not as good as ULT.
I've used EBC Greens in the past and will never go there again.

I had Carbon Lorraine pads on my TVR Cerbera and they were the best brake pads I've ever had ... by a mile.
The pad compound they used back then though was very hard and actually would ware out the discs on you but they've sorted that now and the current ones seem to be fine, no disc wear issues that I've heard of.
PH Member Brummie is the UK agent for them so he might be worth a PM.
