Hey Guys

After what seem like a never ending house search, it looks like I might be moving to Digswell. I wondered if there are any local Ph'ers who could tell me what the area is like and what the commute is like into central London.

Thanks in advance

Digswell is a lovely place to live, very quiet but close to Welwyn Garden City for shopping/schools and the A1 for travel into London. Your nearest train station would be WGC with regular trains into London (be prepared for a shock on the ticket prices!).

I have a lot of well off customers in that area, and it's somewhere I would love to live if I could afford to.

Digswell has its own train station, also known as Welwyn North. The fast trains stop there from Kings Cross.

It's a nice spot. I lived there for 4 or 5 years. It's a one-pub village for commuters with some very expensive property. Peace and quiet but need to travel for entertainment. Just under 30 mins to London on the train.

I live in the next village. I love the area, although some places in Digswell run right next to the train track, so keep that in mind.

As mentioned above, Welwyn North is situated in Digswell, Kings Cross is a 20 minute trip on the direct train.

And Kim Wilde lives in the vicinity. What more could you want...?

It is kind of dominated by the railway. I think they've given up the idea of turning the two way track into four way, but worth checking. Would be a bit of a downer for the locals.

I'm also 5 minutes up the road.

Train service is good, 2 trains an hour - takes about 20-25mins to Kings Cross.

Lovely area to live in.

Well done. I moved to Oaklands/Mardley Heath (Welwyn) 2 years ago and couldn't be happier. Grew up in the village until I was 11 it is nice to be back.

I take the train in to London every now and again, always use Welwyn North, two fast trains an hour to Kings Cross.

Kim Wilde lives not far away in Codicote Heights and I bike past her house regularly. Her Dad Marty Wilde is in Tewin/Burnham Green. Apparently Alesha Dixon lives just off my road but I've never seen her. Thats enough of the celeb spotting.

Some good roads for a blat and some nice pubs (see thread) biggrin
