Exhaust Manifolds Group Buy??

Looks like I am going to have to buy new manifolds for my 2.9 S3 as I think repairs are only going to put off the inevitable. As everyone is quoting made to order I am wondering if there might be a good saving in a group buy. Its got to be cheaper making several sets in one go. Any body got experience of this or interested? If I had a vague idea of numbers I could see if its worth it.

I would put myself forward as a tentative maybe for your numbers. I have a couple of small holes in my 2.9 S2 manifolds so could be in the market if the price and timing is right.

My S2 manifolds are patched up with an ali plate, held on with julilee clips, sealed with exhaust paste. Only a matter of time before I need to replace them, so I may be interested in a pair if price is right.

My best quote so far for 1 set in stainless is £510 inc. VAT. Will gauge interest over the weekend and see what they can offer next week.

Those manifolds won't fit in an S - unless you fit the left one on the right, and vice versa, and butcher the rest of the exhaust to fit. And are willing to accept the restriction in gas flow arising from cast manifolds instead of the TVR tubular ones.

Why don't you just ask ACT or someone pricing at different quantities - say 1,2,3,4,5 sets and then you can guage interest :-)

That's what I am planning to do, but thought I would try and gauge overall interest first. It's looking like 3 or maybe 5 sets could be possible.

To increase interest, perhaps include an option to add a connection for the sensor used on the de-catted cars. These could then use the regular manifold and hockey sticks instead of the special manifold and down/de-cat pipes (currently as below)...

I recon a price from a few pipe stranglers direct is probably the way to go?

If you can get a good spec together, drawings sizes etc - you could email it everywhere

The guys I am approaching all have jigs, we are just trying to save setup time as the largest proportion of the cost is labour, so we can reasonably expect some good savings for a batch. How much remains to be seen but I am sure the more affordable we can get them the more will be interested and the happier the supplier will be.
