Longest ride you've dine totally solo
Discussion
I don't mean in a race where you're not with someone for a while etc, just leaving home on your own etc....
Yesterday I managed 87 miles which was (I thought) a long time on my own but really enjoyed it. Stopped briefly at 30 miles for nature, a 15min stop at 60 miles for some food and then no more stops after that. I struggled a bit past 70-75 miles mentally as the legs got tired but thought that was a pretty good effort for myself.
Bet some of you have done well over 10p though.

Did 120 miles on Sunday, did around 60 round the Chilterns, then cycled back to Swindon the long way as couldn't face Reading station!
Was OK, added 20 miles on the end to make sure I was over 100 and was flying , the first 45 I took nice and easy, gradually working harder until the last 10 when I knew I had nothing to lose
As for complex "fueling" on the route: a snickers (30 miles), tuna baguette (50 miles), 3 pints of Guinness (50 miles), red bull and mars bar @ 75 miles.
Aiming for 250 by the end of September in one sesh

About 4 hours, MTB so no idea how far I went, cocking about at Afan with my iPod in.
Highlight was coming across a lovely long line of new riders with rented bikes on The Wall and picking them off one-by-one (politely giving plenty of room of course) was going so well until I caught the leader, he 'kicked' and went for broke, I chased, finally passed and managed about another 200m before I completely balls up a turn, crashed and rolled down the side of the trail. Was so steep I had to pull myself up on some branches and pass my bike up to him, climbing up and falling about laughing.
Hurt though.

Longest solo for me was Binfield near Bracknell to Burton Bradstock, 120 miles, 6,865ft of climbing, 7h 15 mins total, 6h 27 mins moving - which gave an average speed of 18.5 mph.
Lasting memory was of boredom from about mile 78 to 92, then realising I was almost there and picking up the pace for a couple of big climbs!

103 miles for me.
An unplanned 'off-the-cuff' circular route from near Saffron Walden, Essex up to Ely and back. Because "I've never been to Ely before". The route up was to the west of Cambridge, through the fens, and the route back was to the east of Newmarket. Lunch at the Barracks scoff house before I left, topped up with a petrol station sandwich in Soham, plus copious fluids.

When I was 14 I did 84 miles on my school bike, which weighed a ton and had a Sturmey-Archer 3-speed hub.
The last five miles (hilly!) to home were torture! And I had to mend a puncture en route!
(Kids of today with their feather-light frames and muliple gears don't know they're born!!).
