Conti Tubes

Just got some GP4000s, got 5 free tubes with them. The tubes have a flat face on the threads, it makes my adaptor for my track pump pretty poor is it screws onto this bit, it works but is reall awkwards and can take a while adjusting the position of it for it to seal at the higher pressures, anyone got a solution, another adaptor/pump or something? Or are the tubes just not very good?

I don't have that problem, but I do find that the core unscrews when I unscrew my Lezyne. Happened twice in the middle of a 600km audax, when I was too tired to understand what was happening.

Switched to Michelin Airstop.

I have a Joe Blow pump which copes with these very well - it uses a rubber compression washer with a lever to make the seal.

I've had enough flats from duff valves to prefer tubes with removable cores: you can get a replacement/spare pump head for the Joe Blow which you might be able to fit to your pump?

I've had the same problem with my Lezyne mini pump (my track pump doesn't screw on so I only discovered this when stuck in the middle of nowhere!). I've just bought a little plastic valve key to tighten them up - they're only about £1 and are tiny so I'm keeping it in my saddle bag from now on.

The little black "ABS" button on the side of the Lezyne pumps is meant to prevent this happening. Never tried it though so cannot confirm.

I think that's what I need, a new adaptor/pump with a different type of seal than a screwed thread.

Why do Conti do this? Suggestions for a new adaptor/pump?
