Looking For A Decent Track Pump

My track pump is not really presta compatible, sure it has adaptor for them, but it just rips the core out, so I'm looking for a replacement, trouble is it MUST have a screw on presta adapter NOT a press.

Any suggestions?

Looks good, well made and has a screw on adapter with 'pressure release', about £40 which is comparable to equivalent models from Topeak etc.

Yep, Leyzne Tech Floor Drive here. It's great, especially the fact that you screw the head onto the valve so that it can't blow off.

Just be careful not to ever buy tubes with removable valves... (continentals, for example).

I learnt that the hard way.

Out of interest, why does it have to be a screw on?

I've got a press on track pump that I've only used on presta valves and it's never had a problem.

I got a Raleigh one a few years back for £20, feels and was cheap but has done 2 years (so far) of good service

My Halfords one is packing up. The presta valve side when pushed onto the valve is not compressing the valve stem so you can't inflate the tube. Seems a shame to junk the pump so is this a repairable fault?

The one I have tears out the core quite regularly no matter how careful I am.

I’ve got continental tubes on my road bike and once or twice just taking the valve cap off has unscrewed the core.

My track pump is a Bontrager Charger and it hasn’t given me any gyp at all.

Hmm, IIRC it cost £25 but it seems that now the £25 one has the gauge at the foot and the £35 turbo has the gauge at the top. Anyway, it’s been perfectly adequate.

I have some Continental tubes and I tighten the valve cores up when I fit the tube, I have had no problems.

I have a cheap track pump bought off Amazon and have never broken a valve yet, and with three cyclocross bikes in the family the pump gets plenty of use.

I'm still using the same circa early-90s Silca track pump. Only track pump I've ever bought.

Love it - never had a problem and still manages >100psi with ease.

Mine is going through exactly the same thing - only I bought it at John Lewis for about £20.

Does anyone know if the valve heads from different brands are interchangeable? Think mine is branded Canyon.

EDIT: I suppose I could just get one of the screw-in adapters.

There is no comparison. If you shop around/get lucky you can get them for £25. Quality kit.

^ I bought a Giant Control Tower (2?) Works alright on lower psi Schrader, no good on Presta; it leaks past 100psi, useless.
