Hi all,
does anyone had experience of fitting a European Becker made unit into a US Spec 996 from year 1999 ?
I have a CDR-220 and bought a CDR-22 to slot in instead to give me access to the majority of FM stations missing on the US Spec unit. Not too worried about MW/AM.
Got it wired up and working but when it came to slide it back in it became apparent that there is a few millimetres difference in the units, the CDR-22 being wider.
Are there any wider cages available? A thought I had was that the CDR-22 was not designed for the 996 but I don't think that this is/was the case.
Thanks for that,
Kevin.

Found the solution by closer examination: the CDR-210 (correction to above, it was not a CDR-220) was fitted into a cage featuring the stereo-present alarm wiring spade connector too.
I bent up the 4 tabs and out the cage came and the CDR-22 slotted in nicely.
I enabled the AUX by going into the advanced settings (while stereo on: pressing and holding TP button for 10+ seconds and finding the AUX menu item by using tuning button as a selector. Two soft-keys are indicated with an UP or Down arrow to toggle AUX off and on. So I should be able to hook up my cheap Solisto interface for my iPod and not have to use the fancy CD changer emulation Solisto unit I had on the CDR-210.
Hopefully this helps someone else in the future.
Kevin.
