Just got the details through for the PCGB Track Day I'm attending on July 12th. The say the circuit management won't let cars out on track unless they've got their towing hooks fitted. ?? Errrrm.

Frankly I haven't checked my Boxster's manual - but what are they on about....?

On the front of a 911, I assume the Boxster is the same, near the number plate is a small round disk that you remove and the towing eye should then be screwed into this.

They need a way to get you out of the kitty litter .

I think the AA insist on something similar when a TVR owner joins

The towing eye will be in your toolkit. It looks like a huge needle with screw thread (i.e. it has an "eye" through which they can thread a rope).

Next to your front and/or rear bumper (assumption for the Boxster as I'm not sure, but true for 911) will be a small plastic socket in the bumper which you can pop out using your car key or something like that. Don't lose it!

Then screw in the towing eye.

Don, I'll ask the missus to bring hers if you've er, mislaid yours.

It's either a tow hook or some monkey with their breakdown truck. Your choice !

I'll be looking for it tonight. I know the little circular hole in the skirt that has been mentioned. I'm sure the tow hook is in the toolkit..I'll check and let you know if I need a favour.

I've been sent the schedule for the day. I'll mail you off-list with all the times etc.

Not quite, in this case it is a real towhook for towing the broken down Porsches.

Ha ha, the tow hook thing only started because we can't drive them properly on track
