New House Sales
Discussion
I currently sell Motorhomes which i enjoy but its time for a change.
I had an interview yesterday to sell new houses for Britains biggest new house maker,im confident i'll be offered the job.
The first 6 months is spent covering days off at different sites with a lower basic, this is putting me off a bit as i cant see many quick sales being done and the fuel costs could be rather large.
So has anybody on here done a similar role?

Doesn't sound great if your covering time off for other staff members for six months - sounds like this is there way to hire cheap cover workers.
As long as you're expensed for your travel then it might just be a way of making sure you are committed to the job.
Does sound a bit of a s
te 6 months though

te 6 months though Thats what i was thinking, its no travel expenses as far as im aware so a big lumpof that 15k basic would go on fuel and just being on site for 1 or 2 days i cant see many people buying in those 2 days.
After the 6 months basic goes up to 18k and you get your own development which sounds great but i dont know if i need 6 months of earning little when my current job is ok and pretty lucrative at this time of year.

Tough job if the remuneration has a strong commission element. We are house hunting at the moment and we wouldn't be 'sold' a newbuild house by anyone. It would have to be the right design, on the right development (location) and the right plot on the development. Is it all about extracting the largest margin from the buyers I presume?
Im not sure it is nescercarily, indeed profit protection wasnt even mentioned in the interview although im sure there are strict parameters to work within.
You're bang on about selling, the product will really sell itself and all the salesman can do is f
k it up which is very similar to motorhomes, just being knowlegable, helpful and honestish is the main thing.

Doesn't sound like it's worth it then, you aren't going to sell many houses in 2 days. You might take a few phone calls and get some interested parties but you won't be closing the sale.
