Camping with signwritten van?

Hi guys,

I want to drag the missus and our boy on a few days camping over the next few months, but I've been hearing about lots of UK campsites turning away vans with signwriting.

Anyone on here recommend any sites that are ok with vans?

Preferably southern england/wales areas

I would have thought it would be the other way around. Turning around plain white Transit vans.

Yeh you'd think so!

I've had a quick look on google and there's lots of camping forums asking the same sort of thing, but I can't actually find a list of sites or any particular recommendations.

The only answer really, is ring in advance and check. I only have (a lot) of experience with caravan and motorhome sites, where for most it would be a big

Try the Camping and Caravan club, they seem to be a bit more relaxed.

I think Farmer Jones who lets you pitch up in his field would not have any issues......

I'm looking more for a site with facilities, other families etc..

I think the Holgates sites will allow commercial vehicles, but you have to inform them prior to booking.
They have some good family sites.

But are North West England.

As mentioned try the Camping and Caravan Club sites although it does depend what you mean by more facilities. Plenty of their sites have kids in the holidays. They tend to congregate around the playground!

The only site I've been to but it seems excellent to me

They are very relaxed and I've seen signwritten vans there.

I think when sites state no sign written vehicles what they're trying to do is stop a load of workmen turning up mob handed, pitching up for weeks on end and living 'on the cheap' with 'Wimpy homes' or 'Motorway maintenance' plastered over their vehicles while all the new houses get built or the new motorway gets finished.
Give the sites a call I'm sure you'll be fine.

Some try to stop 3.14 people and for others it's snob value.

Some of the VW T4 camper vans have been turned away "we don't want your type here"

Try tanner farm in kent.lovely site. Ive got an unwritten crewvan so i can park next to tent.think they let written vans unload then park in main car park.the famers a bit miserable but its the best site weve been to

A Camping & Caravan Club site is the only one of many all over the UK and continent in which I have had a problem with my T4 with only one window in it. The site manager said something along the lines of we like campervans to look more like campervans - i.e big and white!
