Yet another one mans tyre is another's poker up the anus

I loved my Ultremo's but the sidewalls fell to bits, best handling tyre I have ever used so far. GP4000s's are way tougher but don't have the grip, wear well and don't cut but racing in the wet with them is pissing me off. I dont like how they feel at all. Last night I had zero confidence in the front and tonight I was sliding again, not good. What I want is a decent race tyre, I'll switch the rims so not bothered about 1000's of miles.

Vittoria Corsa Evo
Vittoria Open Corsa
Michelin Pro 4
Schwalbe, the DD's were great but i'm not sure the sidewall issue is fixed?

Not tried the contis as I'd heard they were lethal in the wet, really liked 2 sets of michelin pro's (3 and 4), but got a bit fed up of wrestling them over the rims - they're pretty tight. Currently running the opens which are nice, but the sidewall doesn't look terribly robust..

I am currently running the Open Corsa Evo II's, best tyres I have tried so far and they were only £22 each at Planet-X when I bought them!

IMHO very fast rolling, excellent ride qualities (supple - even at 120psi), extremely grippy in the bendy bits and very good in the wet (so far).

Hmm. Sounds like Michelin's are just tight, my Krylions are very difficult to get on. I don't know what it is with the 4000s, they are light and roll well but feel and wet grip are low.

Veloflex Corsa or Master. Awesome grip in both the wet and dry. The closest thing to tubular comfort when used with latex tubes

Oi! I just bought a pair of GP4000s because all you racing gods said they were the mutt's!

You won't be disappointed with the GP4000s, they are a great summer tyre but can pick up a lot of debris in the rain

Whilst Decathalon are still selling Pro Race 3s for £20 each, its worth getting a few. Personally I think they roll better than GP4000s (except the special ones Nick bought....) Grip in the wet from what is essentially a slick tyre is impressive too though I have awesome bike skillz.

Annoyingly though the wording on the sidewalls doesnt line up with the wheel stickers as well as GP4000s did.

They're good, I would still recommend them TBH, grip and feel are very personal and I am a bit over cautious in the wet anyway.

My bike came with Ultremos on but I have been using Michelin Pro 4 Service Course now and I feel more confident on those with regards to grip, especially in the wet!

Have to agree on the Schwalbe's but it's damn annoying as they do ride well. looking forward to the Vittoria's and am seriously tempted by those Pro 3's at £20 a pop.

Pro 3s are worth a go at that price. The Pro 4 are a big improvement over the 3 so any negativities you find with the 3, don't let them make you prejudge the 4.

I'm using the Paves (the green stripe tyres) - the grip in the wet is phenomenal. Tempted to get some Open Corsas now the weather is better and save these for when they are needed.

They've been my winter commuting tyre this year, not noticed any problems!
