Ford Essex V6 Help

I have been looking for a bellhousing to fit the 3.0 v6 essex engine to a type 9 gearbox anyway found one on ebay today and purchased it, it came as an engine and gearbox complete. The guy told me he took it out of a ford Sierra 3.0 v6 lx that was imported from Australia the car was a 1993. The engine is definatley an essex but with a difference for starters it has a pierburg neuss carb bosche electronic ignition and the rockers are quite different.

I cant seem to find out much on the net about it so anything you guys know would be a great help.

Strange, that would be a very late Sierra & I thought they would all have Cologne engines, can`t help I`m afraid. Is there an Aussie forum on PH ?, if so try there.

The 3.0 essex was fitted sierras in South Africa not Austrailia (search for XR6 ) not that that means it didn't come here from Australia they also used a slightly differant block and went up to 3.4 for truck engines so it could be that other Essex block ?
Ford SA also sourced many differant parts to Ford europe, on the earlyer cortinas and escorts they used home sourced axles and all sorts so the carb differance is probably down to this?

Yup, that would be a South African made Essex V6.

Essex V6 engines (with slight modifications) were made in SA right through the 80s and 90's in 3.0 and 3.4 litre form.

I might be talking out of my backside here but because it is from SA would it have the hardened valve seats etc to allow you to run unleaded?
It might be a better engine to use than your original!
