I've just bought a 1970 911T and, unfortunately, don't have the owners handbook. What is the starting procedure from cold? There are 2 levers between the seats - is one a choke?

Thanks!

Will post pics when I've taken a few!

You'll find a link to the manual on this page:

Left hand one is hand throttle for cold start - follow instructions in manual. Right hand red one is heater.

Just click on "911 T" on the left hand side. You will then see another link in the middle of the page - look for "Klik hier voor de download" . You'll need Adobe reader to view it. Hope this helps...

Sorry, just realised you probably meant what is the starting procedure rather than how to download...

in mine jump in and pump the pedal a couple time and pull the left lever up 3/4 or so and turn her over usually catches straight away and i give her a few blips but its always a little lumpy until she has warmed a little, if its running on zeniths they are a git to set up assung its on a standard exhaust? my zeniths tend to hang a little on gear changes, theres only so far you can go with the zeniths and the sparking set up but does the job pretty well.

Manual says:

1. Switch ignition on
2.Fully depress accelerator 1 or 2 times
3.slightly touch accelerator and turn key fully clockwise.
4. You may need to depress the accelerator a few more times to enrich the starting mixture

Roygarth - is it MFI or carbs?

If MFI (unlikley I think but..) then leave throttle alone. Pull hand throttle fully up but be ready to lower it - crank and adjust hand throttle accordingly. Porsche suggest letting it run for 2 mins then blipping to 4000 revs and driving off. I just drive off and adjust hand throttle as I go.

Nice purchase! But one thing I don't understand, didn't the vendor explain this to you?

The pre 74 cars have the long bonnet that curves down onto the bumper. Through 911SC to 993 they all had the shorter bonnet that finished at the start of the front bumper. Maybe an americanism but it suits it very nicely
