How noticable is the change in throttle response from normal to Sport?

In addition to other things, the Sport mode is supposed to change throttle sensitivity. I ask as on my Pork I feel no difference at all yet on my Merc it's like waking a sleeping Devil!

Apologies if this has been covered before but the search facility has gone walkies again.

I think you may have your options mixed up. The PASM doesn't affect the throttle response - its the sport chrono that does that and its quite noticible in terms of pedal movement in relation to engine response. PASM stiffens the suspension.

Regards Sport Chrono, throttle response and sensitivity in this case are the same thing - all it does it make the pedal more sensitive.

To achieve the same effect for less money, dig in the back of the wardrobe to find those platforms you used to wear to 70s discos.

All that changes is degree of pedal travel required to reach wide open throttle. The difference is very noticeable. In cars equipped with sport chrono pressing the SPORT button also switches PASM to 'sport' setting from normal. Pressing PASM button alone has no effect on the throttle.

Looking at your profile it says you have a 997.1 Turbo.

So if you have the sport button (sport chrono package) then in addition to feeling the throttle response difference you should also get over-boost, and extra 0.2 bar, from the turbo temporarily when you stick your foot to the floor fast on the throttle peddle.

When you press the sport button you should see the word “SPORT” appear on the dashboard display. And when “SPORT” mode is active and when you press the throttle peddle fast to the floor you should see an arrow icon point up on the dashboard display next to the word "SPORT" (you might need to be on the boost screen) indicating that over-boost is available. Although whether the ECU/DME actually requests the 1.2 bar (extra 0.2 bar) from the turbo is based on a number of factors.

With sport mode on in my 997.1 Turbo I can easily feel the throttle response difference when I just very lightly touch the throttle peddle. And I can feel the difference (although to a lesser extent) in acceleration in say 2nd gear when I stick my foot to the floor where more torque is available.

Thanks, this is exactly the case with my Merc too but isn't noticable on the 997. And, yes, I have the Sport indication and the arrow next to the boost bar graphic showing.
