997.2 steering wheels
Discussion
Chaps - a quick question.
When I bought my 997.2 I had a paddle wheel fitted to replace the crappy thing that was on there before.
I've just seen this pic on the Porsche Approved site:

where it lights up "Sport Plus" on one spoke of the wheel - should mine do the same, or is that a GTS-specific feature?

I remember reading about this on 6-Speed 2 or 3 years ago. Apparently there are 2 different versions of a control unit somewhere in the dash. If you have the earlier one (pre 2011 model year from memory, but could be wrong) then it doesn't have the facility to operate the 'Sport' and 'Plus' lights in the steering wheel spokes. The later one does.
Apparently the early control unit is upgradeable (probably by replacement) to the later version, but it's expensive for something that's not all that important (the messages are in the dash display anyway).
Edited to add:

I think if you retro fit even if you add the Sports button software you have to have the wheel with no lights.
there are 2 pt numbers for the paddle wheel, one with lights one with out.
Yes, I vaguely recollect there being 2 versions of the paddle steering wheel too - one for each control unit type.there are 2 pt numbers for the paddle wheel, one with lights one with out.
