Congratulations!
I've recently got an M3 as well and came from a Cerbera. Truely fantasic car, enjoy!
Really. Is it quite brisk. I haven't ever driven one. I have a bad habit of buying cars on reputation alone.
I used to have a 450 Chimaera so i guess it will be similar albeit different delivery of power.
My impressions so far are:
1. Doesn't feel quite as quick as the TVR in a straight line (and on paper it's not). But it is still a very rapid car especially when overtaking.
2. Handling is far more confidence inspiring.
3. The sound is addictive above 5-6,000 rpm, very different to the TVR but equally as enjoyable.
4. Build quality is outstanding.
I'm sure there's more but I can't think of them at the moment. I'll be interested to hear what you think.

I'm actually running mine in again after an engine recall. Once you've done that you'll find it goes crazy above 6,000rpm!
I opted for a second hand manual, I tried the SMG and it was a great drive (escpecially the downshifts) but I do a lot of traffic driving and didn't find it that smooth in those situations (could well have been my ability rather than the system though!).

Well some people might know I came from a Tuscan S to the M3 which was delivered Sept.
Still running in but I think I made the right choice. With TVR going through a change I wanted to take a step back and have a balance of great performance and bit of luxury
So far impressions are all good!! SMG is great, changing up without coming off the pedals in true F1 style is amazing!! Can't wait to use the 'sport mode' and SP6 once run in....
Agree with comments made below, won't beat a TVR (well certainly a Tusc S) in a straight line but is not far off! Looking forward in taking on a track around the twistys and seeing what it can do.
Enjoy your new purchase...think you might enjoy is

I know i'll find out tomorrow but i can't get my head around how you'd launch from standstill with an SMG box.
PIcture: you select 1st, floor it. Doesn't it take off like an auto i.e building revs rather than a clutch dump at 4k, tyre slip etc etc?
Or does it pause, build up revs to 4k then storm off the line with the rear wagging it's tail
I asked the dealer if it has launch control and he said nope.

Also, you read so much about the outgoing M5, all extremely positive but you don't get quite so much enthusiasm for the M3. I would assume the M3 would have the upper hand on performance and an equal dynamically.
Any thoughts on why the M5 is considered to be so much better (maybe its the fact it's a large saloon?)

I've had an e46 m3 and now have an e39 M5 - The m3 is more chuckable and a little quicker in a straight 1/4 mile drag, but the M5 is much quicker in the real world because of the torque and above 120mph would storm away from the M3. Both great cars just with a slightly different focus..........

Even without launch control, if you start in first and push down the pedal, the car will launch just like a manual with the clutch dumped, but with the same grip issues. If DSC is on, then it will kick in to cut power. If off, then you will get big wheelspin and, depending on the surface and the revs, some fishtailing.
