Paddington Station Parking

I'm going to start riding to Paddington soon each morning to catch the train out. I usually catch the train at 7 so I'd be at the station for 06.59 ish but I've noticed the racks are always so crowded. What are the chances of me finding a space there at that time in the morning?

Does anyone else park there?

If it's anything like Marylebone (which I come in to) then you'll probably find that the later you leave it, the emptier it gets.

You're going against the flow of commuters and most bikes will be parked there overnight and ridden into London during hte morning rush hour.

Are you heading somewhere that you could cycle at the other end?

I have a Dahon Matrix (a full size folding bike) that is fine on the trains into Marylebone each day.

My worry would be someone with bolt cutters would have the bike, even if its worth bugger all! I'd buy a folding bike n+1 if it was a long term thing

I'm assuming that the racks are on the station concourse and therefore offer a relative amount of protection.

I could easily put the bike on the train so i'll consider that. I had a quick look this morning before jumping on my train and it was very very busy although there were the odd few people leaving the station on their bikes.

Guess I'll just have to try it.

I have an Abus granit D-lock and the racks are inbetween two platforms so I don't think it will go anywhere. It's my cheap bike i'll use so I don't think i'd be too disheartened if it disappeared. I'll keep the good one for weekends.
