Hi All,

Is the a better way than just asking the bank to transfer 100,000 Euro's and then seeing how much the charge me in sterling?

Due out Friday to collect a Car.

Thanks
James

Yes, try American Express (you don't need a card with them). We use them for our business purchases so I'm not sure if they accommodate a single transfer (I'm sure they will, and it costs nothing to open the account, use them once, and then never use them again) but any exchange business will offer better rates than your bank doing a payment from your sterling account.

Be careful who you use.

I know a guy who lost £2m to an unregulated foreign ecchange broker - fraudster who basically took the money and sent it all over the place. He'll never see any of the £2m, and the guy will get a few years if anything at all.

Use a big name bank.

On that kind of amount we'd be happy to talk about cutting the margin.

Speak to your Bnk get the rate and then ask them to chop the fee back.

Interesting, I asked both RBS and HSBC to cut their rate on 135k euros, they wouldn't shift.

Transferwise look good.

I use UKForex for my FX transfers, have been fine with me and rates have far exceeded banks.

I don't work for them!

To be fair you still need to be in the top end of our Bank's clients to work with me or my colleagues, but don't ask don't get.
