I am quite savvy about finance. However the SIPP allowance is due to change and above £1.25 million 55% tax is payable. I cannot find knowledgeable, honest IFAs. The charges are not always clear and it is hard to gauge how good the advisor is.
Please can anyone advise?

Join the club.
Spoke to HL about their so called advisory service.
They took one look at my portfolio and said they can't help me.
Only interested in idiots with no clue that they can sell expensive mutual funds to.
If you find one let me know

Having now spoken to quite a few IFA's I have decided that keep your affiairs quite simple as there are no really clever answers. Advisors like to make you think it is complicated because they can then sell you all sorts of products. The very best advisers in my opinion are the ones that look at your total financial affairs, they listen to what you are aiming for and then they charge you an hourly fee.
There are of course all different funds and products available. You should only be sold what you need and what is the very best for YOU.
Money Facts is a very good comparison website.

Thank you for offering to help me. Having asked around I actually found the most amazing advisor yesterday. He only takes clients from recommendations. I have searched for several years and I can honestly say genuine knowledgeable IFA's are very rare.
