Hi -

I was wondering if anyone can help.

Because I'm in a temporary house while the sale of the new house goes through my pride and joy is parked outside and thus getting wetter than it is used to.

On two occasions after rain I've noticed that it has got wet inside the car, though not in the obvious places you'd expect water ingress.

The first time it was UNDER the mat on the carpet in the passenger footwell behind the driver, the second time (after last night's rain) it was under a mat again but this time in the front passenger footwell. This is all very bizarre as I can't find anywhere else in the car that is wet, and the mats that were on top of the wet carpet seem pretty dry.

Also, the car hadn't been driven on wet roads before the dampness was detected(it is left to stand Mon to Thurs) so it isn't being splashed up off the road.

Has anyone else had a similar experience or have any idea what is going on?

Could the door membrane be damaged?

I had a similar symptoms years ago in my 964 and it was the door membrane torn / leaking. Water seeped in and runs down under the mats, so the top of the mats stay dry.

Usual suspects are sunroof drains if coupe, or the water drains in the rear under the roof cover if soft top.

Door membranes already called out.

Never underestimate the collective knowledge of this forum - very impressed and thanks for your responses.
Do we have any idea on the likely cost ball park for the membrane or drain cleaning work?

I had water leaking into the front passenger footwell, sunroof needed removing and re-sealing and seems to have cured it.

Initial thought was blocked/damaged drain tube from the sunroof running down the A pillar, but after inspection was found to be fine. The water somehow tracks down the A pillar internally and drips from the bottom of the dash panel (to the left of the glovebox door) onto the top of the inner cill carpet.

Got quite very bad in heavy rain.

LeighB - that's very similar to the location where the current 'patch' is.
So, we've got 3 potential sources with the sunroof, drains and door membrane. I suspect I may be outside with a hose this weekend.
