Evening all,

Had the windscreen replaced in my Cayman last week, and after it was done the Sat nav appeared to be working fine - it kept track with where I was the whole way home, as it should. I haven't used the car much since then, but today I wanted to use the navigation and the cursor was showing me as being about 30 miles north of where I actually was. After that it decided to stop altogether and now the cursor is stuck at the last point it thought I was at.

I have switched it to Nav > Status in the PCM and it is showing as not being connected to any satellites, and didn't pick any up in about 20 minutes of driving, plus another 10 or so of being sat in the car at home.

I will obviously have to call the windscreen company out again if it doesn't find a satellite, but is there anything I should be checking? Fuses or the like?

Tried the factory reset option in the Navigation settings, and that didn't help. Are there any other things I can try?

Usually is a loose connection.

There's a blue plug which clips onto the module under the wiper cowl, my money would be on that.

Yes this. I found this to be my problem earlier this week.
Pop front bonnet, remove plastic battery cover and then the passenger side cover.
To the top right hand side you will see a cabin filter underneath the wiper cowl. Follow the gps atenna to the underside of that cowl and above the filter. Ensure the connection is tight, you may need to remove and close up the gap on the antenna grips.

Shouldn't the windscreen fitting guys be doing this?

Indeed, and if it doesn't look simple to do then I'll get them back out to sort it.

TBH, I would notify them in the first instance and let them sort it. If, for example, there isn't anything right under there, you may be inheriting a problem and giving them a get-out, "well it was OK when we fitted it," etc.

What a lot of people don't realise is that behind the shiny new windscreen can often be a load of pain and trouble that they're cleverly hiding with the glass.

Before you go to too much trouble, have you restored factory settings? I can't remember exactly how to do this but it is in the menu somewhere.

This 'freezing' is not unheard of. I have had it twice in 6 years for no apparent reason other than it is a Porsche. Restoring the factory settings cleared it up each time.

You are correct in your thinking. TBH I wanted to have a look to see if there was anything glaringly obvious, as there are a few things that I haven't been impressed by with regards to the job done by the fitters - things like bits of trim and covers not being put back in place properly; though the screen itself looks fine.

As it happens, I couldn't see where the connector was (probably didn't remove enough or the correct covers) so I shall be calling them back out on Monday.

Yes I did a factory reset and it didn't help. Think it definitely must be a GPS connector issue.
