I am a bit new to the site, and to the forum so hello there! Just wondering if anyone has any views on whether or not it is worth having my cooper adjusted by the "works" boys? Does seem tempting, though is it worth the price? Thanks to anyone who can offer up any advice

Its only worth the money if warranty is a worry.

BBR and a multitude of others will extract similar performance for a fraction of the cost, the only difference is that with the Works kits you keep the BMW warranty.

In reality most dealers wont bat an eyelid if you use one of the aftermarket companies unless one of their components fails. In that scenario their own warranty will cover the part.

i dont know if it's been announced officialy yet but the works kit has been upgraded and will be pumping out 210+ bhp soon with an upgraded cylinder head and obviously you still have the warranty, the works kit is totally over engineered, new supercharger in stead of just a smaller pulley to speed it up, new head etc.

It has been confirmed by JCW, and announced at the Paris Motor Show.

New kit includes a new air box that opens a flap at 4k revs, new injectors and ecu remap: www.mini2.com/news/news261.html

Fortunately for existing owners, the upgrade is available for about £400. guess what Santa's bringing me for xmas

Most dealers will still cover you even if you haven't gone the JCW route... slightly irritating but hey..

I have the 200bhp upgrade and think it's fabulous, however I have booked my baby in to get the 10 extra horses... got a bit greedy and wanted a bit more noise! Totally depends on what you want to get out of driving your Mini... I love it. )
