Cables, PIWIS, Durametric, etc etc... 996T
Discussion
I am retrofitting cruise control and while I do know that I can get an OPC to program the DME and instrument cluster to make this work, I would not mind having a shot myself (and have the means to access everything else at my own leisure, in future).
Question is, do I need to spend the not inconsiderable amounts for anything approaching the real thing, (really not making it worth my while) or can I get by using something cheaper? I can see cable kits on Ebay for around 40 quid but suspect that they have limited function. On the Durametric site (these come with Durametric V3 if not mistaken, an older version) there is no mention of "Instrument Cluster" in the accessible modules. I could be mistaken though.
I would consider spending £100-£130 for something that works well to be reasonable.
Does anything of the sort exist, or should I just resign myself to using an OPC?
The vehicle is overseas and there exists only one OPC and no proper indies and for a variety of reasons I would avoid the OPC if I could.
Thanks for any advice, what I get on here has always been very useful!

I have coded several 986s and 996s for cruise with my Porsche tester, and it is a 15 minute job (max) and very straightforward when you know what you are doing.
987s and 997s are slightly more involved, and due to the time it takes for control module searches and code clearing it can take 40 minutes or so.
