radiator fan - next step to test

I know there are a few really good posts on here about testing the fan, but can't find them.
I've checked the fuse, checked the relays ..... nect step I seem to remember was "shorting" the otter terminals.
Is taking them off the otter switch and putting them together whats know as "shorting"? if the fan works, then otter is too blame?

You don't need to disconnect them from the otter switch (although it's no problem if you do), you can use a paperclip or very short piece of wire and join the two connectors together..

I've just been down this road with my fan I shorted out the otter switch & the fan still didn't work was just about to dis-connect the rad & fan unit when I found a connector lower down adjacent to the rad. After cleaning the terminals fan now back in operation.
