Paying Approved Dealers for servicing ....
Discussion
Of course I realise dealerships are run as businesses, but there must be a level of professionalism that members of the public consider acceptable. I recently had a service and warranty for my 996 carried out at an official Porsche dealership. I have always trusted the service assistant, so when he called on May 2 to get my credit card details over the phone, I gave them to him without hesitation. They still had my car and we had not agreed a date for it to be collected. When I called back 5 minutes later to change my mind about paying for the work until I collected the car, I was told that he had gone home. The assistant I then spoke with said it was past 6pm and no refund could be made.
I realise I should have given a flat 'no' to the request for payment, as they still had my car. We are talking £ 2900.
Since then dialogue with the dealership has gone from bad to worse. They admitted that they tried to get clients to pay for work, prior to collection, if the work had been done and billed in a particular month, and collection was likely to be in the early part of the following month.
Sadly their Servicing Manager does not really understand customer care. He has offered me a goodwill gesture of £ 100 when I take my second Porsche for service and warranty extension. I want any goodwill against the car for which they have done the work.
Time for me to move dealers.

Not sure what you are getting your knickers in a twist about to be honest, they serviced the car, and unless you were planning on inspecting the car before leaving the dealer you'd have paid anyhow, unless this was for bodywork in which case you'd want to see the car first.
I regularly call ahead and pay for my car / bike servicing so i can get in and out very quickly.
I'd take his goodwill gesture whichever way you can get it, I'm amazed they felt the need to offer one, all they did was called and asked you to pay !!! No one twisted your arm ......
