May have found a 996 - advice please

Hi all.

I've been deliberating over whether to buy a 996 for ages now. Love the car but put off by the engine horror stories.

I've found an example I like at a good price. I've been in touch with the owner and the specialist that looks after the car. Basically, it transpires that it's previously had a a cracked cylinder liner, which has been fixed. It's also had the IMS replaced. This was all done in 2010, 27,000 km's ago.

I presume this now reduces the risk of owning a 996?

If it's just a standard IMS bearing, then risks not much different.

Having one cylinder fixed means less risk, but still a chance the remaining two on that bank could have problems later.
