KTM 950 Adventure
Discussion
Just test ridden one, what an awesome bike!!! Looks brilliant, bike version of a Land Rover! And the torque.... I was stunned at how quick it was in any gear, much quicker than my SV. It handled well and was really very manageable for a big bike, it does not seem big riding it!
I'm thinking of taking time out to do a big trip, Europe, N Africa etc and I'm v v tempted by one of these! Anyone else got one?

I've got an EXC525 Racing and that an awesome bit of kit for what it does as well. The easiest bench mark is to look at the results of any of the big long distance rallies, national or world championship enduros or MX events and count the KTM's in the top ten. They tend to wipe the floor and are only getting better year on year, Their venture into MotoGP on the 125's and the rumours that a 500 will appear shortly indicate they are a bike manufacturer well and truely on the up. As for my bike well the tag line of "Ready to Race" really does hold true I have seen no other bike that has such top quality kit fitted as standard including numerous little features that you wouldn't imagine (like lock wires on the rear brake lever). Great bike you won't go far wrong with it.
I'm curious as to what you think of the saddle, looks like a bit of plank and unsuitbale for long long distances (which is why I ride the fat-arse accomodating Tiger instead
If the seat is comfy then I'd consider it, but judging by all the reviews it is not.
I hear that they do a gel seat option (but I may be mistaken ?)

On my admittedly shortish ride I did not find the saddle too bad, although it did look like an instrument of torture. To start with I tried to sit back but that is not the thing to do, when I sat forward it was much more comfortable. That said the gel seat is an 80 quid option and I'll get one of those put on. I don't think it will be any worse than my standard SV seat! The dealer is going to do a deal on the bike with kit - rear paniers, top box, tank bag, new cans and seat s hopefully it won't all cost a small fortune!!!...

I think one of the constributors to T.W.O. magazine has a silver one, and has just added the gel seat to it - apparently it makes a world of difference over the standard seat.
Before you hand over your folding, test ride a highland...
