Generic brand road bike | bent frame!

Hi all,

The gears on my BMC SR01 alloy road bike started to slip on my rear cassette this year and this gradually worsened over the last month or so.

I popped to my LBS today thinking I may have stretched the chain and/or damaged my rear cassette. They looked at the cassette which and(alloy) frame. on measuring it the frame is indeed a millimeter or so off-centre (vertically), so my rear wheel has been at a really slight angle... I hadn't fallen, have not installed an aftermarket parts so the bike is as it was when it left the factory a year ago (apart from the fact it's been cycled a lot).

Took it to the not so LBS where I bought it with my warranty and their sending it off to BMC to get a replacement.

Potatoes is without a roadbike for 2-4 weeks.

Funny I had the same thing with a 'dale tandem. Rear triangle was not true and the replacement was not spot on either, although slightly better, so I chose to live with it given the hassle of swapping them again.

Certainly worth checking when you get the replacement because their jig might be out.

It' really frustrating as we should expect better than an untrue frame when forking out.

A friend of mine has recently had a BMC frame replaced.

His was the old model as well so he got a free upgrade to this years frame.

I believe his issue was that the front duerallier came detached. Brazed on IIRC.

turns out frame was not bent... the local indie LBS was trying to sell me a new bike

I even made a thread about it...
